Nor was it anyone on the list's fault that you weren't around in 1965.

Would you PLEASE not lose sleep over this? Damn, i asked a simple fucking question
of some "experts" and here you are tripping all over your damn shoes!......

I don't know WHERE you're coming from with this "MINI-ME" fucking Mini-Mickey
Rooney Shit. It's all in your head, at this point. DAMN. Someone, fucking answer
and prove me...whatever. Which was never my goddam point. Fuck. Ask a simple question....

Y'all know too much. Dammit. Frank has this PROBLEM until he finds out
who-the-fuck-Mickey-Rooney's-goddam-son's-band-is? OK Frank: we'll figure it out,
Frank! Frankie: we're "with ya, baby". We'll get there. I'll think about it and
get back to you. You brought up a point for another time. But that's not what i
wuz asking! We're Bompers. We'll GET THERE, goddammit. But UNTIL THEN: answer the
goddam question!

Not that i remember what the goddam question was, mind you! Viva Le Bomp!

got plenty soul for two,

- - g

ps: I just realized: you're answering your own GODDAMN post! Pathetic or what????
Talk about Todd Rundgren: " I went to the mirror this morning..... "

pps: where are we at here? There comes a time when you're at the crossroads. WHAT
do you pick to listen to? Come ON. When you got the whole fucking world at your
DISposal. You've stood there. You've got this brilliant fucking collection in
front of you. The culmination
of YEARS of your bullshit. You've told UNTOLD multitudes how great "so and so" is.
And then when it's time for YOU, what do you pick? I dare you. Tell us.

Lemme start with some random-ness: Brian Protheroe: Hotel. OK, guilty pleasure,
tho i could make an argument (i doubt you know how he is, so i ain't worried).
Artful Dodger: Honor Among Thieves. that's a given (the best Boston band signed to
Columbia at the same Boston signing-frenzy as Aerosmith tho they bombed, no not
Aerosmith fool, the poor loser "Italian" Boston band that slid while the Philly
Italian Mob lost their footing). Todd Rundgren ("Black Mariah": do i even have to
TELL you? Get a fucking CLUE about Sides 3 & 4 of "Something/Anything").

Stop bullshitting around. You wanna accuse us of boring you? Do some homweork. We
didn't bring this to you. You gotta work at it. WE did. You ain't the obvious. You
put yourself in my scope. I know you. You'll survive, to get this list a-going.

I can't say fuck you, I say that whatever i eat,

To your whole united nations,
To your greatest expectations,

I'm just a victim for your love,
And I ain't the one you're thinkng of,

The Others from Lancaster, Cal."Revenge" were on the Mercury label. Sundzed
reissued this one.

(for some stupid reason, I kept thinking Lancaster was in the bay area,
wrong....although I remember getting lost there, looking for thrift shops).

The Others that did "I cant' stand this love goodbye" were on RCA and
also released "Lonely Street " (another groovy one).I thought these guys were
from Rhode Island, but can't confirm this. I think "My friend the wizard" is
also them on the Jubilee label (personal fave). Mike M would know for sure.

Other Outcasts groups
The Outcasts-"Run Away" (on Prince label) featured Gary Puckett a Nothern
San Diego combo that had 2 great 45's before Gary took the Union Crap
downward spiral to hell . Their other disc was called "I can't get through to
you" on the Karate label.

Has anyone read the new Lord Tim Hudson book "from the Beatles to
Botham...and all the bullshit in Between"

This past weekend at the Pasadena record swap (one of the best monthly record
meet/swapmeets anywhere), we came across a small booth with a few boxes of
lp's and an amazing Italian poster for "Yellow Submarine" framed for
sale(didn't get it, too expensive). Low and behold, it was Lord Tim Hudson
himself selling discs in jeans and a Tshirt. He was so incredibly cool and
was talking a mile a minute about the Seeds and the Sunset strip scene. The
book is pretty cool although I'm only half way through it. Has anyone else
picked it up? It's a British publication. Tony

Hello Bomponians! Richard Tepp (R&TYL) & Preston Ritter (Prunes) have

* Dave Aguilar from The Chocolate Watchband has sent some music trivia
about CWB also. I'll post those questions within two weeks*

Hey Jon-
Besides the Prunes and The Shangrilas, might I make one more suggestion?
THE SHAGGS!!!!
(The Wiggins Shaggs that is!) Word is that they played in NYC last year so it
might actually be a possibility!

To all y'all, especially Frank and Tony:

PLEASE accept my apologies for the unintentionally nasty tone of my posts earlier
this morning. It was late, i was 'faced, and should NOT have been interacting
"under the influence". Stupid, stupid, stupid....and i feel a right prat for the
angry undertones in what were intended to be playful exchanges, particularly from
Frank and Tony, who were enjoying all the silliness we were getting into (The
Nooney Ricket Five, Mickey Rooney's kids band...actually, some funny shit!).
What can i say? Maybe it ain't all that big a deal, but i just don't want these
guys to think i was being nasty when the intention was "not nasty". I decided to
go public and take my well-deserved slams like a man.
   I apollo-gyze! :)

let us please continue, pre-Jack Daniels:

No, there were some U.S. artists on the label. I was just playing "Tommy"
by Reparata & The Delrons (from New York) about an hour ago! Michael
Brown's dad and his orchestra backed up the girls. They were pals of lots
of N.Y. bands including the Left Banke and Front End (the band on Smash).

Mickey Rooney Jr. had no involvement with the Nooney Rickett Four. Maybe
one day I'll get around to writing up the Nooney Rickett story, although at
the time I interviewed him I didn't get a chance to ask him much about his
work with Arthur Lee (grrr). Nooney was originally from Indiana, and went
out to California... claims he did the original "Swim" record, which Sly
Stone and his Autumn Records pal Bobby Freeman took credit for "inventing".
I do have a single on Columbia by THE ROONEYS, which is OK. Mickey Jr. and
his band also were in a '60s exploito movie which I think I have a dub of
somewhere. JEFF

I'm with Ari; I'm a HUGE Shangri-Las fan.

So, is there a chance in hell of ever seeing a Pleasure Seekers reunion?

I'm confused by Chris Knox's statement - the Underdogs were from New
Zealand, and they weren't 'beat' - more proggy blues (at least on record).

This would be a fourth "Others"? Or are you thinking of the Bay area group 'The
Other Side', whose "Streetcar" single popped up on Boulders 2?

Well, since "Wizard" is on "New England Teen Scene" collection, it establishes
them as a NON-New York group. If all three records are by the same group, then the
Others on RCA are not a separate group, and not a NY group?
- ----------------------------------------------
> > So many Outcasts groups.

Yeah, i'll say. Turns out there's over a dozen of them. What a can of worms i opened.
- --------------------------------------

By the way, assuming you are "The Tyger", i just scored the first volume of "Fuzz
Flaykes and Shakes", so i now own all three (?). Are there more? Good show:
appreciate the label repro's and the descriptive liner notes. Keep up the good work.

OK:
No doubt someone's pointed this out already, but:
It's the Nooney Rickett Four. They popped up in the 1965 movie, "Winter a Go
Go" with the always delish Julie Parrish. Dunno if the group recorded tho. Bloody
awful, they were, at least in that movie.

Way back when I was in high school, there was a "Reparata & The Delrons"
that recorded a nice version of I Wanna Testify. Unfortunately, I've since
found out that there've been several versions of the group that have had
dubious membership over the decades.

They did a couple of songs at a Rounder aniversary show.

   YOU TOO??????
Now i gotta laugh! DIG us: two old drunks babbling incoherently about
lord-knows-what rock trivia.
Christ... i don't feel so bad now. Been beating myself up all day about that
public 'meltdown'.....and now i'm really wondering:
Any of you out there besides me and T. enjoy this list in this manner, ie. you
get "in the mood" to dig in deep to the list, catch up on friends and knowledge,
and before you know it, you're "kneejerk" reacting to someone's post while NOT
remembering that you're
*hardly* in a state to BE posting?
Come on....be honest....who's posting drunk, high, freaking, tweaking or just
plain straight-edge? I really can't imagine the latter, tho i understand it i
guess...simply cuz there ain't nobody here but us rock 'n' roll lovers, and
partying just kinda goes along WITH it. Actually, my earlier posts last nite
(getting ready to go out) vs. my LATER posts in early morning (after i had gotten
home and still felt like continuing what i had started) are like....ick, night and day.
Oh, and T? I had NO problem unraveling your seemingly-garbled post from last
nite, once i looked at it the next morning, hangover in effect. The answers to my
questions are confusing ENOUGH, as IS. Last night? Ha. Picure me trying to figure
all this shit out while draining a bottle of bourbon and playing the second Gun
album at earsplitting volume on headphones. Christ.
So i woke up and I just took it a phrase at a time. :)
