Capitol claimed they wanted to 'preserve the integrity of the original albums', or something ridiculous like that. So the great liner notes and bonus tracks were chucked, and new CDs were issued, each containing one album. Which means if you didn't spend $15 on a 2-fers, now you could spend twice as much to get 2 CDs clocking in at about 30 mins each. And you wouldn't get any of the extras. Some deal, eh? In another genius move, Capitol deleted "Pet Sounds" a few years back, intending to replace it with a remastered version.
