I don't know who Australian Crawl is, but I am
definitely familiar with the other three, especially
Daddy Cool. I once had a Daddy Cool 45 on Reprise
("Hi Honey Ho") which I found at a Salvation Army in
Nashville, Tennessee when I was a kid. I thought it
was pretty decent boogie rock with horns. I was
always curious if anything else this band did was any
good. Any enlightenment would be appreciated.

You telling me you never watched or listened to Woodstock? Hey, I admit
they had the hippie thing going on full force, but it's a chunk of history,
dude. I actually watched it for the first time in a long time a few weeks
ago on cable, cuz the Sly segment is one of the single finest moments of
rock on film ANYWHERE. Actually, the Santana lead in is fucking great, too,
even though he gets slagged on this list a lot. "Soul Sacrifice" SMOKES.

Bill Haley's is the version I'm most familiar with.
Especially since it was his last Top 40 hit and it's
another 45 I happen to own.

<I didn't know that Stalk-Forest was available. Is it a legit
release?>

It is a bootleg, albeit a very good quality bootleg.

<How ARE those Love, Peace & Poetry cds? All psyche? Heavy psyche,
lite psyche?>

They're sort of a mix, but definitely leaning towards the psych side. #1 is
American and has two of my faves, the Brain Poilice and Hunger on it. #2 is
Latin, #3 is Asian.

Records store. >>

    hey todd -
hey, glad you had a good experience there!! that's a great store. i love
that place. did you stop and play defender on the way out? if you ever walk
in and see an unshaven guy w/ a ponytail screaming "FUCK!!!" at the defender
game, that's probably me.

<< As someone said earlier in the week, it's a good
thing I'm single. >>

preach on, brother todd, preach on. i was going out with this girl last
year & after a few weeks, she sort of made the pointed observation of "you
are obsessed with music. i have never seen anyone spend as much money on CDs
as you do." we went out for about 3 more months after that. i'm still buying
CDs.
i was in there friday night - picked up a couple of orders (if you
special order anything there, you get an automatic 2 bucks off, a good deal),
and was eyeballing the new alarm clocks disc. maybe next time!
one thing i thought was really too bad was that they stopped renting
videos - the store is about a 10 minute walk from my apt, and i used to go
over and get great stuff like "dolemite," "the great rock and roll swindle,"
& "the killer shrews."
that's really a great store & anybody in the neighborhood of the indy
southside oughtta check it out. & you can play defender on the way out...be
careful, the reverse thrust button sticks.

1 smart bomb left,
rob

Really, about his prolific paternity more than anything. You'll have to
register (it's free) to get onsite if you haven't before.

Do you know

It's Flex Your Muscle by the Now. I just wish the vocals were a bit louder
on the Firestarter LP, but a cool LP it is indeed.

Well, as far as I know, the Waldos are still on, but the Real Kids won't be
playing that show, unfortunately.

As far as horrible classic rock bands go, although the thread has pretty much
run it's course, I feel obliged to mention the band Boston with a shudder of
revulsion. I don't think anyone else thought of them...perhaps it was too
painful to mention...I understand...

B-Face

ps What is it about geographically named bands that makes them suck?
Kansas...Boston...Chicago...perhaps the only band named after a place that is
the exception to this rule is DMZ! Hey, it's a place! Sometimes...

Jeroen wrote about the Otherside & Crimson Shadows CD's:
Are those out yet?, why hasn't one of the whatshisnames told us ?. Anyways,
I spend new years eve at the home of Other Side singer Michel, and did he
tell me?; na!. So where do I order this thing, Botswana ?.

Jeroen, since you should get my regular newsletters you should have known
about these releases. And I've also mentioned them on the Bomp list.
Anyhow, the Otherside's 'In A Haunted House' and the Crimson Shadows' 'Out
Of Our Minds' are volumes 1 & 2 in our 'The Knights Of Fuzz' series. In this
new series we give the best bands of the 80s garage scene a proper CD
release, collecting all their relevant recordings. For more info see
http://www.uah.de/inbetweens/. On the website you can also order the cd's.
And Jeroen, the CD's are also available at Michel's record store Da Capo.

Regards from whatshisname who actually put out the Splinters disc,
