last night, & managed to score a couple of cool CDs, among them eddie floyd's
"knock on wood" ($4) and the rhino british invasion vol 5 ($2!! "some other
guy" by the big three, alone, is worth way more than that!)
    anyway, in the liners to the rhino disc (which included the pretties'

    "atrocious musicians led by a sickening effigy of mick jagger."

There are official Muzak recording available on the secondary market. To
plug Muzak to potential subscribers promotional LPs were produced. The
covers are cool because they are filled with charts and graphs explaining
the Stimulus Progression theory of employee motivation through the use of
Muzak. I saw one that had a version of "Funkytown" on it.

I think Rick actually does say something to effect of "betcha didn't know I
was in a band with Neil Young once, did ya?" And the snippet of song is the
one that I THINK was called "Mynah Bird Stomp." But I've only caught this
once, and came in in the middle. (It's one I'd like to get on tape; I'm a
big fan of Rick's work anyway).

Hey!

Has the 1971 Felt LP on Nasco ever been re-issued? Does anybody know where I can get a copy?

Also, is there a copy of the Mike Jackson solo LP out there. What is it called? Who released it? Is it any good?

I just found out that that Felt are from Huntsville and I would like to know what they sound like. Rick Storey told me that he used to see the sealed copies of the LP at Goodwill but I've never even seen a copy.

I'm looking for any garage or punk records by Alabama bands. Anybody got an extra copy of "Crazy Date"? Is the Nod LP worth looking for? People who know this stuff, get in touch!

Hi Rob !!! Roger Dean was one of the guys who preceeded Eric in the
Bluesbreakers. He's on the " Mayall Plays Mayall " LP and a few other early
tracks. Bernie Watson was actually before Dean, and he's on a couple early
tracks as well. You can check out all that and more at
http://www.johnmayall.net which is definately the site for Mayall fans (
loads a' info ,pics etc,it's so kool in fact it even has a link to Ugly
Things !!! ) better than the official Mayall site. I agree, Clapton's best
work is on that Bluesbreakers LP ( known as " The Beano " LP ) . I like most
of his work with Cream, and even Blind Faith but I think he loses it after
that ( if I remember he was shooting up pretty regularly by Derek & the
Dominos, and that may have affected things some ) and after that things got
amazingly even worse in my opinion.
  I'm a big Peter Green fan too, and his work with Mayall and the original
Fleetwood Mac is just stellar, and Mick Taylor who replaced Green was no
slouch during his stint with Mayall either, his work on Crusade is just
great, I even got to see Mayall with Taylor in '68 or '69 at the Bushnell
Memorial in Hartford Ct which was a pretty fantastic show. But without a
doubt that Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton is Eric's finest moment, and it
sounds even better in mono. It was that record and the sound of Eric's Les
Paul thru that Marshall JTM 45 combo that launched that whole sound.
Eric couldn't be God cause God would never release anything as bad as " Eric
Live at the Rainbow "

I've got 2 songs by this Tampa, Florida band - "You Better Move" on Teenage
Shutdown 14 and "This Must Be The Place" on Lost Generation 2 - and they
are both KILLERS, especially the latter! According to the Lost Generation
liners, all of their 5 singles are excellent, so I'd just like to say that
I would love to see a 10" comp w/all 5 45's! How about it, Sundazed?

Hi there,
This is a long shot, but I'm desperate to lay my hands
on an old 7" by Australian band the Lime Spiders,
called "Slavegirl." It originally came out on Oz label
Citadel (I'm almost 100% sure), and had a gorgeously
larey cover, endearingly un-PC lyrics and a
boss-bitchingly PRIMITIVE sound. I think it was
released mid-80s. Can anybody help me? I NEED THIS
RECORD!!
Here's hoping.... thanks >>

>>Hey Mr Database, you've got a wrong date there !. Motorhead's version was
recorded at the tail end of 1976 for Stiff, who, for whatever reason,
failed to release it at the time, tho' they did license it to the French
Skydog label who put it out somewhere in '77. Stiff finally pressed up the
45 for one of their boxsets (Buy 1- 10) and individual copies were also
sold by mailorder only, the song also appeared on the 'Hits Greatest
Stiffs' LP. I Thought smelly old metalheads like you knew this stuff by

Geronimo!

Thanks for the info on that earlier version... Cuz that's what it is, to me
anyway: I have a live version, recorded on May 15, 1980 at our own famous
(?) Lochem Festival. I have it on an EP from 1980, on 1984's "No remorse"
(in fake leather sleeve...) and as a bonus-track on the "Bomber" cd. Is
that studio-version available? Thnx!

SIR! Now playing: Lee Perry's "Complete UK Upsetter singles collection,
volume 2".......)

Hi y'all,

Busy anyway....

Here's the other past for ya:

On January 17, in

1949, Frank 'Floorshow' Culley recorded "Cole slaw", in New York;
1950, Charles Brown recorded "Again" and "Gee" at Los Angeles' Radio
Recorders;
1964, Dion DiMucci recorded "I'm your hoochie coochie man" at New York's
Columbia Studios;
1964, the Kinks recorded "I don't need you anymore", "I took my baby home",
"Long tall Sally", "You do something to me" and "You still want me" at
London's Pye Studios;
1964, the Rip Chords recorded "Hot rod U.S.A." and "Three window coupe" at
Los Angeles' Columbia Studios;
1967, the Who recorded a BBC session at London's Playhouse Theatre. They
played "Run run run", "Boris the spider", "Happy Jack" and "See my way";
1971, the Byrds recorded "Glory, glory" at Los Angeles' Columbia Studios;
1972, the Guess Who recorded "Heartbroken bopper" at New York's A&R
Studios;
1998, Ronnie Dawson played a gig at Austin's Continental Club. 70 minutes
of that gig were released on a cd called "Live at the Continental Club".
Fellow-hometown-man Tjarko Jeen, who is NOT from Sweden, accompanied Ronnie
on guitar. I hope, for all present, that the gig lasted longer than 70
minutes...

And that's it for today, yesterday.

L8er,
Jan (still listening to Perry)
