Yes, that's because it's being hosted by their old ISP from Germany. They
don't have anything to do with them anymore. I'm surprised the ISP hasn't
taken that page down since it's not being paid for... I was talking to Tim a
while ago about a web site, trying to convince him to set one up listing all
of their stuff. He wasn't too thrilled with the idea (various reasons).
Hopefully they'll decide to do something soon. In the meantime, I know you
can buy a lot of the Crypt catalog online at www.midheaven.com.

35 minutes outside of DC, it might as well be the moon).

The (UK) Clique's "We Didn't Kiss..." lifts part of the "Leaving Here"
riff in places. Killer track. As mentioned, the Clique did their own
version "Leaving Here" too - smokin'!

Subject: Buckingham Security Guard

This morning at work, I was talking to one of the relatively new
security guards when he mentioned that he use to be in a band back in
Chicago. I asked him which one because I always hold on to some vague
hope that a person might have been in some obscure '60s band. (Past
experience in this type of conversation usually reveals that the person
played in some boogie bar band that opened once for the Doobie Brothers
or Triumph in the '70s.) The security guard responded, "The Buckinghams,
I was the keyboard player--"Kind of a Drag" was our biggest hit." I
think I said, "No Way" out of real surprise. He brought out a small
wallet-sized very '64 Beatles-eque b&w photo of the young Buckinghams.
In the photo, there he was as a young mop top standing behind a Vox
Continental organ.

The daytime security guard at the office building where I currently work
is Dennis Tufano--who was the lead singer of the Buckinghams in a past
job. I mentioned something about Vox Continental and the Farfisa and he
asked me how I knew about such things and if I was musician. I told him
I was not a musician, but I try to play guitar and I'm into the sound
and music history of the mid-sixties. Dennis said he had been living up
in Reno for the past 10 years and playing in a casino band called Dennis
& the Downbeats. He said his wife recently got a job transfer down here
(Phoenix, AZ) and his latest version of Dennis & the Downbeats just
finished up playing a residency in an Italian restaurant located in a
strip mall on the Tempe/Chandler border.

I then told him that I saw the Buckinghams at an outdoor (Saginaw)
"River Roar" festival in Bay City, MI in 1996. He said that he was not
(and never) part of the group that lead guitarist Carl Giammarese has
been calling "The Buckinghams" on the oldies circuit. I asked if he was
aware that Sundazed has re-issued "Time & Changes/Portraits" and he
responded that he was only familiar with the Columbia-Legacy CD
collection that he buys for Christmas gifts. (As other employees were
walking back and forth behind us in autopilot from car to cubical, here
we were discussing the American cultural/musical experience of the last
40 years!) Finally, we ended up the conversation with mentions of Art
Roberts, WLS, the Cryan' Shames, Shadows of Knight, the Luv'd Ones,
Larry Lujack, WCFL, and the New Colony Six. I had to get back to my
computer before the boss started lurking around and he had to get back
to his security guarding. Leaving the front security area, I said,
"you're going have to tell me some more." "I sure will," answered
Dennis.

Tomorrow I going to give him a copy of the most recent Sundazed Tymes
catalog and mention a story I read in one of the re-printed editions of
"KRLA Beat." According to a 1967 story: Dennis was in a New York City
"mod shop" and got so excited shopping that he walked out of the store,
forgetting to pay for the $65 bundle of mod clothes.

Never know what life (and work) will bring,
Ted L.

That's a weird series. The last volume I got (on CD) was volume #16 (or
14) I think, although several of the earlier volumes simply didn't come
out at all! The sound on all of them is very muted - in fact, one of mine
doesn't even play! Such was the quality control of Music Maniac.
I advise you to give them a miss - the best tracks will all come out else
where (MARK my words on this); in fact many have already been re-reissued
on the somewhat better Teenage Shutdown series.

Hi,
I'm new here but I thought this would be a good time to jump in.
David Roter is the writer (say that 5 times fast.lol) of "Joan Crawford
has risen from the grave".
The David Roter Method consists of:
  J & A Bouchard -of B.O.C.,
Adny Schernoff - of the Dictators,
and a "J Rigg" is also playing with them.
If this is Jerry Rigg formerly of the Riggs,
he's an amazing guitarist.
If not,I'm sure that J.Rigg is a fine musician as well.
  Thanks for your time.
 Take care,
Tony

I was digging around at work today and found The Radio Stars "Holiday Album"

some relation to John's Children, but other than that nothing. Any help

was in the orig. Johns Children or not

When John's Children played here in San Diego for 66-99weekend, Andy and
Martin played. A great show with the band dancing and partying before and
after their show. A Great time!!

Chick and Freeman were friends and Chick maintains that Bobby stole his tune.
