It's tough to choose, because I love the paint peelers, too, but Teen
Jangler Blowout...especially the Jacksonville Investment Company and
Disillusioned Younger Generation tracks. If Tim and Mike stucj with the
BFTG comps, I never would have been introduced to these winners...

I don't disagree at all, Jeff. "The Day She Dies" is one of those songs
that stays in the head days after listening to it. And it contains some of
the most poetic lyrics ever written by a garage band: "I want to live until
the day she dies". It doesn't get anymore romantic or heartfelt than that
one simple line. Eat your heart out, Rod Stewart...

Well, there is SUPPOSED to be. However (for example) most of the tracks
on the so-called "R&B" volume (#14) just sound like killer US '60s punk
to me.

I stand by what I say for that reason. I've listened
to MP3s a few times and the sound is not unlike an old
transistor radio tuned to an AM station. Plus,
they're too convenient for those out there who want to
get everything free.

Yes, there was, it only lasted a few episodes. It was horrible, they were

 Seriously, though, given Fogerty's well known love of Blues and R&B, I
highly doubt he would allow racists of any kind to play music with him.

Hi y'all,

Here's what happened in the past, today and tomorrow:

On February 9, in

1960, John Lee Hooker recorded the twelve songs that made his 1960 lp
"That's my story" at New York's Reeves Sound Studios;
1961, James Brown recorded "Lost someone" at Cincinnati's King Studios;
1961, the Coasters recorded "Little Egypt" at New York's Atlantic Studios;
1961, Jerry Lee Lewis recorded "Cold cold heart", "I forgot to remember to
forget", "Livin' lovin' wreck" and "What'd I say" at Nashville's Phillips
Studios. More on that last song in nine days;
1962, James Brown recorded "Night train" at Cincinnati's King Studios;
1964, the Beatles, as part of their first visit to the States, appeared on
the Ed Sullivan Show, playing five songs: "All my loving", "'Till there was
you", "She loves you" "I saw her standing there" and "I want to hold your
hand". "All my loving" appeared on "Anthology 1". Recording took place at
New York's Studio 50;
1967, the Beatles recorded the basics (3 takes) of "Fixing a hole" at
London's Regent Sound Studios. The song was finished on Fab. 21 at Abbey
Road;
1967, Stevie Wonder recorded "Hey love" and "Travelin' man" at Detroit's
Motown Studios;
1974, the Stooges played a gig at Detroit's Michigan Palace, better known
as 'the last ever Iggy & the Stooges show';
1977, the Jam recorded "In the city', "Sounds from the street" and "Time
for truth" at London's Anemone Studios, for a demo.

On February 10, in

1961, James Brown recorded "I love you, yes I do" at Cincinnati's King
Studios;
1966, the Kinks recorded "Dedicated follower of fashion" at London's Pye
Studios.

That's it fow now, have yourselves another great weekend!!

L8er,
Jan (listening to Tony Joe White's "Closer to the truth")

double-lp set?

A corresponding double-set LP of a full CD can include more music than that
CD. The CDs wouldn't be 15 anymore thus consequently we shouldn't have 15
double-sets. I don't know how many they would be. We could have 7
double-sets with the same music compiled on the whole CDs and they would
cost fewer than the present 15 LPs, or (maybe) 9 double-sets correspondent
exactly to the track-listings of the CDs, and they wouldn't cost much more
than the present LPs. If your pusher sells a double-LP at a price higher
than (or equal) 2 LPs is a thief.

The first limited pressing of GPU on Stone Age has no notes & lacks photos.

Nobody, but NOBODY, can touch "Gloria" by Them. As great as the Shadows Of
Knight were, Van Morrison & co. had the final word that time.

And "Walking The Dog" never sounded as good in other versions as it did in
Rufus Thomas' original.
