I like Ricky Nelson, but I CANNOT STAND that song!
Good sentiment, awful tune!

Thanks for the hip tip, Steve! I know somebody out
there has GOT to have these tapes or maybe some other
ones they might have done, and that's what I'm after.
It'd make for a great posthumous release - not that
that's what I'm gonna do with it...I just wanna hear
it!

Convy was with the Cheers in the 50s. The guy with the Avant Garde was
actually Chuck Woolery.

'Tis true. Joey is Joey Reynolds, the d.j., who was rockin' Western New
York at the time.

<<The Seven of Us: "Jamboree" (Red Bird) And speaking of
NRBQ, this one's a precursor, so I'm told. Stompin'

This was when they were still based in New York, right before their move to
Miami (where the name change came about). Actually, guys from New York,
Louisville, and Miami all came together in NRBQ. Jody Stampanato (St.
Nicholas) wrote both sides. They had two singles for the label.

no you did the vacant lot proud. I'd add that the Vacant Lot more than held
up their fast lightening pace in live shows as well as on LP. Another LP that
deserves (with "Ride the Cyclone" as a bonus track) to be issued on CD.

Thanks, Blair! I knew if anybody could help out with
that question, it had to be you! Sorry I've done my
part to help smear the otherwise good name of Pete
Ciccone, but it's like I said before - I don't know
the guy, never met him, but I heard unanimously
negative things about him, and couldn't help but
believe them. I didn't mean to ruffle anybody's
feathers by parroting all that animosity towards him.
I'll do the decent thing and see if I can't give him
better treatment on my Devil Dogs site than I have in
the past.

Thanks again!

i was gonna make a list of bands that never get mentioned on the bomp list
but i figgered once i mentioned em, they wouldn't really qualify anymore,
huh? ;)

screaming blue messiahs...how bout 3 toed sloth, the unholy trinity and
motor boys motor? later

I've never seen the cover of their third elpee (FISH & CHIPS) but I do think
its' weird that the two that came before it both have pictures of guys
killing themselves on the front cover.

yeesh, then i will, AWFUL.....and his 'billy phase was pretty embarrassing,
too. i've probably mentioned this before but when neil played omaha after
that shocking pinks album, he opened for himself and got booed off the
stage. course, most of the folks didn't know it was him (since many of his
fans don't actually buy his records) but i understand he was peeved enough
to vow to never return....and he hasn't. i've a similiar story as to why
sting will never play here again but i don't feel too bad about that
one....and besides, slowing down to 65 while you blow through is probably
more of omaha then most ppl really need. later

i found some of them for sale, but they only come with cheap white paper
sleeves - were these ever released w/ proper sleeves (liner notes)?

thanks,

Hey everybody, I just got back from seeing Ocean's 11
and at the end of the film there is an awesome
instance of Unexpected Coolness. The closing song for
the film is a loop of Le Orme's (Italian Prog-Psych)
song Ad Gloriam (from the album of the same name).
They only play the beginning, sans lyrics, which kinda
bugged me because it's a good pop-psych number with
Italian lyrics.
If you go see the film be sure and take note.

yeah they did, they all have white lp jackets with liners on the back of the
lp.. The lp's were in a white inner sleever liner full of adverts and mine i
think are promos as they are all on white vinyl. On the back of the Lp cover
it included a brief on the group and the label matrix information. The sound
quality is pretty good as well. I have most of them. My favorites are the
ones that include all of the UK stuff. (i.e. Birds, Loose Ends, Zoot Money,
Graham Bond...)
