Perfect drum fills? Ringo, just before the first lead, and then again
before the final chaotic frenzy that closes "Helter Skelter," (you know,
it's just like BA-doom, doom ba doom, DOOM DOOM DOOM DOOM DOOM... but it
sounds so GOOD), and, er, the guy from The Turtles, for the PERFECT cowbell
during the stop on "She'd Rather Be With Me."

Ringo's entire pattern on "Ticket To Ride" and the one he uses on "Rain" and
"In My Life" are complete proof that he was and is a great musician.

Why wouldn't Paul be playing organ on that? Don't tell me he couldn't; it's
such a fucking easy part! Most of their songs were organ-easy.

i'd think that anybody who digs hallowed ground would probably dig 16
horsepower but the only intermingling of members i know of is gordon gano
playing on the 2nd 16h album. could be more though, i stopped buying the
femme's after their 4th album (3) but there is a herb alpert connection,
too....he played on victor delorenzo's 2nd album. later

Andy Summers' solo on "Driven To Tears" is a great one--doesn't even resemble
a key center, phrasing, anything.

to see about doing a special guitar bearing his name. Then he said
(paraphrasing somewhat): "You know, I think after Hendrix and Eric Clapton,

Hey, he may be right if we make one slight change...He's the third most
famous LEFT HANDED person to play a Strat, after Jimi and Dick Dale.

No, what *I* wanna know is...How did FENDER reply?

Interestingly enough, just last night someone actually asked me that very
question (or close enough...he said "What Southern Rock guitarist was in the
Strawberry Alarm Clock?"). Did he stump me? Hell no. :>

part is much more fluid also on the lp take.>>> Dr. M.

Ah, I didn't know that. I just know the version on the comp CD that came out
on One Way Records several years ago. Are the single and album versions
totally different recordings, or just different mixes of the same recording?

Some I have always liked:

Ringo's bits at the end of "Thank You Girl"

His bits at the end of "Good Morning Good Morning"

Mitch Mitchell on "Fire" by Jimi Hendrix throughout the song

Bobby Elliot of the Hollies on "Look Through Any Window" ('Beat Club'
version) throughout the song

Keith Moon on "Daddy Rolling Stone" by The Who throughout the song

How do I find them?. I've tried pressing play and scanning backwards and waiting after track 13. Any help would be appreciated. It's the Adverts castle reissue cd.

I knew I left a lot of killer solos off my short list
of faves, but I can't BELIEVE I missed "Pushin' Too
Hard", "Train Kept A-Rollin'" (Yardbirds), "Light Bulb
Blues" and "I Wanna Be Your Man" (Stones), among
others. Here's a few more to add to the list:

"The Lung" - Dinosaur Jr.
"On Tour" - The Chancellors (from BFTG #8)
"Nothing Is True" - the Jim Carroll Band
"Chasing the Night" - the Ramones
"If Money Talks" - Jason & the Scorchers

still not nearly enough. later

Ry Cooder played some badass slide guitar all over several later Paul Revere
& the Raiders records. My favorite offhand would have to be "Wanting You"
from the REVOLUTION! album (1967).

And as great as Drake Levin was, Freddy Weller from the later years was no
slouch either. His country picking on the ALIAS PINK PUZZ and COLLAGE albums
is almost on a par with the Byrds and Moby Grape.

<< There are two lead guitars (on "Just Like Me" by Paul Revere & the
Raiders), but both of 'em are Drake Levin. It wasn't until two albums later
that you can count on most or all of the "band" being session guys. But an
awful lot of those guitars are Drake even after he "left" the band and his
pictures aren't on the LP covers any more. He's all over "Revolution."

On "Just Like Me", it's the band. It may or may not be Paul Revere on
organ,
though. And that dual guitar solo wasn't intended that way.....they
recorded
two solos, intending to use the best one, but it sonded so good when they
listened to both together (especially the way they "meet up" in the last two
bars) that they left it that way.
