hmm, I am about to answer my own question, this building still exists, but I thought there was an entire motel of UFO cabins... could I have been wrong all these years?

Thanks for any info,

Speaking of Clearasil solemnity/Oxy 10 moronity--Holy moley--double-whammy
on the teen nostalgia here for me! Members of the Six and Violence went to
my high school (St. Francis Prep in Fresh Meadows, Queens) in the immediate
years before I did, so they had legendary status among the rock & roll
outcast set. I've still got a cassette of the Six & Violence's original
Lettuce Prey demos. I also played flute in the high school band and
somewhere there exists a photo of me imitating the one-legged Ian Anderson
stance--sans codpiece, of course. My pal who sat next to me in band had a
book of Tull flute solos, the introduction of which exhorted one to play
them in "true, Ian Anderson-intense, dynamic style." We'd practice them
during breaks from the band's repertoire--fweet! Tull-a-vision! I'll
refrain from regaling you about the time my brother went to meet Ian when he
was flogging his salmon at the Herald Square Macy's Cellar...

If you hear an evil hiss, it's only me taking a piss,

Funny you should mention Slayer. I'm going to see them tonight at
Toad's in New Haven. I listened to them a bit years ago, haven't
heard their last 7 or 8 albums but with free tickets what the hell!
I could go for a really loud sonic face kicking. Besides, original
drummer Dave Lombardo is back!

I was never a fan, but didn't mind a few tunes here and there. In '87
I saw them for free. They played well, the musicianship was
excellent, the presentation was good. So I couldn't figure out why I
thought they were so...boring.

Regarding the Norton disc:

Young? Yes. Savage? Uh, no. I broke a longstanding rule not to air a
track/disc I hadn't had a chance to listen to. The song title looked
promising -- the performance somnambulant. It literally put the parking
brakes to the set in progress. Some of us automatically equate "raw" with
"good." It ain't necessarily so. A couple more listens to the entire disc
failed to sway me. This disc will certainly have appeal to some, but I doubt
I'll be pulling it out of the station racks again.

Just got the Jerden CD of various artists all doing "Louie, Louie." The
Paul Revere and the Raiders version is live and from the keyboard sound
(kinda synth) and guitars (squealy heavy metalish), it sounds like it
might be from Paul's latter day group, but the singer kinda sounds like
Mark Lindsay (or maybe someone trying to sound like Lindsay). Anyone got
the skinny on where and when this track comes from? It cooks, but
suspicously.

Savage, not. But, this ain't the Sonics we're all used to. In the context of a
Wailers dominated NW scene I wouldn't really expect much else. Remeber
this is an early line up before Gerry Rosalie and all. I haven't had a whole lotta
time to listen to this one but, stuff like "Swing Shift" and "Hey Mrs. Jones " are
pretty fine. And yes the sound quality sucks (recorded in high schools, teen
clubs and their living rooms). Had this been recorded better, this could have
been some great stuff but, I'll take what I can get.

Ya know, this has nothing to do with "Christian Rock," but has everything to
do with "playing the devil's music" (i.e. LUBRICATED GOAT) at a record
store... Bob's story reminds me of the first time I remember meeting a
fellow Bomp-lister. I was assistant manager of Pennylane Records in
Lawrence, KS (circa 1989-'90), and was also in charge of ordering all the
indy/import product (i.e., the good shit). Well, we'd just gotten in a new
video... I think it was actually the very first Amphetamine Reptile "Dope,
Guns & Fucking in the Streets" video, and I was playing it on a TV in the
back room while I checked in other product. Up walks a guy to the window
looking into the backroom, and in this nasally voice asks, "IS THAT A
LUBRICATED GOAT VIDEO YOU'RE WATCHING!?!?" That man was Brian Marshall... I
was shocked. Astonished. Flabbergasted. Amazed. Someone other than me knew
who Lubricated Goat was... Anyway, end of story.

As long as I live I'll never forget that moment.

ahhh, then you might appreciate the time i was sitting in a strip joint and
while ogling away, heard "in the raw" come oozing out of the speakers as the
new hottie took the stage. unfortunately the club we were in didn't allow
total rawness (just partial rawness) but i'll still never forget
it.....anyway, that hottie was kat bjelland and i suppose it's no
coincidence that she went on to marry stu (nigel tufnel) gray briefly.

Within the thread re: christianity, some had invoked the name of Ian
Gillan as the lead in Jesus Christ Superstar. In 1984, Black Sabbath
had released an album with Ian Gillan (replacing Ronnie James Dio).
The album? BORN AGAIN.

Sure I do! Everyone knows that! LOL!!! But seriously: first thing I do
after arriving is take a quick glance at what you've been babbling about
while I was asleep, actual reading mostly takes place at home... Thank God
it's Friday, cuz then I allow myself some more "freedom"... ;--)

>> who else takes music in to work? jan, i know you do! here's what i
took in today - what's everybody else listening to while they're pretending
to work?<<

Listening to the Beau Brummels' San Fran Sessions this morning at home I
got the inspiration to listen to some Johnny Cash in the office... So I
brought two self-burned cd's, contaning Cash' Sun-sessions & Nick Cave
faves, another one I burned last night contaning a lot of Fall-faves and
originals:
Johnny Cash - "American I, II & III"
Beau Brummels - "Introducing" & "Volume 2"
Remains - "A session with the Remains" & "Barry & the Remains"
Association - "French 60's EP & SP collection"
Lackloves - "As far as you know"
Reboelje - "Magysk teater (allinnich foar gekken)"

I'm probably not gonna hear 'em all, but at least I can....

>>i found out that i most likely going to shit-canned from job yesterday,
so i am settling in for some really serious irresponsibility before they
kick my ass out the door. slackin is my business, and business is fuckin
GOOD. i love my work.<<

Sad to hear that Rob! Take care!

>>gettin up for another cup of coffee,<<

Excellent idea!

L8er,
Jan (attempting to groan as low as Johnny Cash... no panic, I'm almost
alone in the office...).
