Greetings,

That's right. LiLiPUT is on Kill Rock Stars Records. I never heard of
them until this past Friday when I walked into Crooked Beat Records.
That's the wonderful thing about Crooked Beat Records; I find out
about some wonderful gems from the past. There's a band currently
on Epitaph Records called Red Aunts. They sort of remind me of
LiLiPUT. The Slits from the late 70s reminds of them too.

Cheers,
Melvin Little

yup, and what a godsend it was (filled in all the gaps and a few that
 weren't even gaps since i didn't know they exhisted)....besides, i made a
mint ebaying off my old liliput vinyl. ;) yeah, i know, sacrilege but i'd
never have played them again (like i've said before, i'm too lazy to spin 3
minute chunks of music anymore) and i think the dbl disc sounds better

items, this week's "daily picketing schedule" (though it doesn't look like
it's been updated since last October), and a special post 9/11 "God Hates
America" section that makes Jerry Falwell's comments look very benign. This
is just the opening paragraph:

"The largest terrorist attack in United States history occurred on September
11, 2001, killing thousands. God uses these kinds of tragedies to punish evil
nations for their monstrous sins against Him. God once blessed this country
and made it great, and now He is punishing it. Just like He punished ancient
Israel with Nebuchadnezzar, the wicked Babylonian king. The shameful
religious groups across America are lying to you by saying such things as
"God wouldn't do anything like this" and pretending that they don't
understand why this horrible event happened. The prayer meetings that they
are holding are worthless because "when [an evil nation] makes many prayers,
I will not hear" (Isaiah 1:15). The message to get from this tragedy is not
the message that these lying churches all across the nation are telling you.
The message to get is that God is punishing this wicked, sinful, perverse,
adulterous, sodomite nation. You need to repent! Just as Jesus taught upon
similar tragic events"

And it goes on. There are also some MP3s that, shall we say, look way too
scary to download (though the altered lyrics should tell you all you need to
know.) You gotta wonder if folks like Bob have this site bookmarked.

Greetings,

I saw the www.godhatefags.com website sometime ago. It's
propaganda & intolerant BS. They accused gays and lesbians
of everything under the sun.

They described the "unspeakable acts" that two people of the
same gender does, and it is crazy. Straights do "some" of the
same things with each other, regarding male and female
encounters.

Some of the most hateful accusations is pedophilia. They claim
that gays and lesbians engage in pedophilia. As a straight male
with a number of gay and lesbian friends, I can tell you that
most maintream gays and lesbians do not support pedophilia.
In fact, 98% of child molestations cases are caused by straight
males.

Here's a twist from the religious right. As recent as 15 years ago,
people like Jerry Falwell's Moral Majority would say that they
are absolutley opposed to gay and lesbian equality. Now, some
in the religious right are only opposed to "special rights" for
gays and lesbians. Why? They realized that most Americans
don't give a rat's ass about what two consenting adults do in
private. Even in the state of Jesse Helms, most people don't
really care about such issues, they are just trying to get
through another day at work. Of course, I live just outside
the Research Triangle Park (Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel
Hill), which is urban.

Cheers,
Melvin Little

A few last thoughts before the thread dies...Material Issue. Chicago has a
long history of power pop (Off Broadway) rivaled only by Memphis, and in the
late eighties/early nineties, this band was the shining hope. Jim Ellison,
rest in peace...

And Canadian power-pop? I'll always love the Kings ("This Beat Goes
On/Switchin' To Glide" was the hit), but as with Crabby Appleton, their album
sucked too. (And both bands recorded for Elektra, about a decade apart!!)
Strangely enough, the Kings did a live reunion album some years back that was
actually half-decent...

While I'm free associating here, the rockabilly-slanted Kingbees (from L.A.)
weren't really power-pop, I guess, but their two RSO albums from the early
80's border on it.
