Chicago has a long history of power pop (Off Broadway) rivaled only by Memphis, and in the late eighties/early nineties, this band was the shining hope. Jim Ellison, rest in peace... And Canadian power-pop? I'll always love the Kings ("This Beat Goes On/Switchin' To Glide" was the hit), but as with Crabby Appleton, their album sucked too. (And both bands recorded for Elektra, about a decade apart!!) Strangely enough, the Kings did a live reunion album some years back that was actually half-decent...
