These hateful freaks actually sent a delegation here to Maine to picket near
Bush's home awhile back, I believe when Maine was running a gay rights
referendum designed to prevent various types of discrimination. (Why they
chose to picket near the President's house about a state matter is just
another example of the mysterious ways good ol' fag hating God works)...
It's reassuring to know the Lord is so FULL of hatred, isn't it? No
namby-pamby loving, caring and forgiving God fer these guys, nosirree, Bob!
This is a RIGHTEOUS, WRATHFUL, HATING God who will GRIND you into little
gore-splattered PIECES if you should be foolish enough to hold beliefs or
practice practices that don't jibe with the WBC's clearly correct program of
permissable behaviors...

The ironic thing is, if they were talking about the various misdeeds of the
US military-industrial complex as aided and abetted by our conniving and
destructive foreign policies, they might actually be on to something here.
But I certainly don't think any amount of gay rump riding or assorted
lesbian hijinx would cause doom and destruction to rain down on us from the
Heavens...

geez, i can beat that without breaking a sweat....girl that worked in a

Hey, back in the late 70s, when I was just outta college, there were
only two movies at out "mulitplex" theater at the little mall in my
hometown. The woman I was taking out for the first time had already seen
the one movie, so we went to the other, which neither of us knew
anything about---It was "Looking for Mr. Goodbar." Creepy pick-up murder
movie. Very creepy. Didn't go out with her again, but I don't think it
was mostly because of the movie.

The Clear Light CD is also available in Germany, without bonus tracks. We've got an earlier single by BRAIN TRAIN,: Black Roses (diff. version)/Me, both written by Lubahn. These are more punkier tracks than the Clear Light album, and would fit nicely as openers on a compilation. Anybody knows more about this? This label also released the two MINDBENDERS albums (including a lot of bonus tracks), promised as a twofer years ago by BGO from the UK. The EARTH OPERA albums mentioned earlier on the list are in fact US releases on Wounded Bird, manufactured by Rhino Handmade. A couple of weeks ago the label was mentioned on the list, we contacted the label and imported several hundred copies for distribution. One of the other albums on Elektra which should be rereleased soon is ARS NOVA, one of the finest NYC albums from the sixties.

along w/ the rhino d.i.y. comps an essential comp if you're into this stuff
is the bomp label cd "the roots of powerpop" -- all great stuff. includes
some barracudas (whose lp "drop out" is another all-time classic powerpop
rec), breakaways (great paul collins thing after the nerves but before the
beat) and others.

there are also loads of really great bootleg comps from this era: teenage
treats, powerpearls (early volumes are great), backseat love, powerpoppers.

Hey,

Some of you may recall that I play drums in an AC/DC cover band called the
Dirt Cheap. We're currently looking for a new bass player, and I thought
perhaps there's a bomp-lister out there who's either interested or might
know somebody who is.

We do mostly Bon Scott-era songs, and try to mix it up between hits and
lesser-known (to the casual listener) album tracks. We're doing it for fun
- -- we practice once a week in Manhattan, plan to play out in or near NYC
once or twice a month, everyone except me is also in other bands (although
that may change this week, but that's another story), realize there's
something kind of funny about having an AC/DC cover band -- but at the same
time we're serious about playing the songs well and staying pretty true to
the originals.

If you're interested, or know someone who is, please email me. If the
person you know doesn't have email then drop me a line off-list and I'll
send you a phone number they can use.

Thanks,

Evan

Seems like it -- I just checked mine and there are 46 tracks on it,
although I couldn't tell you if it's the same 46 tracks.

Woody Allen's "Crimes And Misdemeanors". Now, you'd
think that it would be a safe bet...It's Woody Allen, right?
But there was a woman in the movie who tells Woody
this story about her going out with this great guy and how
he was a really great guy ...until he tied her up during love-
making one night and shit on her...I remember my date
looking over at me and she had this look on her face, a
look that said "uh...guys do that??" She was shocked. I

I remember hearing a friend of a friend story of a guy
hanging with some friends at Max's years ago. A
pretty famous UNDERGROUND song writer came by and
chatted them up. He was flirting with the guy in
question and asked if he wanted to go back to the
Chelsea Hotel and fool around with his red joystick.
The guy politely refused, explaining he did not go
that way.

The rock star guy was not going to give up so easily
and continued to ply him into a night of hijinx by
promising:

"C'mon, I'll let you shit in my mouth."

I bet if you reed between the lines, you can guess who
I'm talking about.

Gee, after sharing this delightful anecdote you don't even tell us whether
or not the guy got his popstar cherry popped (or pooped as the case may be)

Pearl Jam Honors Joey Ramone on New Single

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rock band Pearl Jam has paid tribute to
late Ramones singer Joey Ramone on a recording released exclusively
to Pearl Jam fan club members.

A cover version of the pioneering punk band's song ''I Just Want To
Have
Something To Do'' is one of four tracks featured on Pearl Jam's annual
7-inch vinyl mailing.

Ramone died of cancer last April, aged 49. The cover is actually a
solo
acoustic performance by Pearl Jam bass player Jeff Ament.

''When Joey died this year, I sat down and played Ramones songs on my
acoustic,'' Ament said in his handwritten liner notes. ''For the first
time, I really
felt the sadness and loneliness in Joey's lyrics. This homemade
recording
is my love letter and thank you to Joey and the Ramones for giving me
a push.''

The fan club single usually reaches members around Christmas. This
year's
release was delayed by art-work clearance issues.

The flip side of the Ramones song is a cover of John Lennon's ''Gimme
Some Truth,'' recorded during Pearl Jam's performance at the United
Nations-backed GroundWork charity concert in Seattle on Oct. 22.

The other single in the package features live versions of the Pearl
Jam
tunes ''Last Soldier'' and ''Indifference,'' recorded at Neil Young's
annual
Bridge School benefit in Mountain View, Calif. on Oct. 21. The latter
track
features Ben Harper on guest vocals.

Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder is reportedly contributing a song to a
Ramones tribute album scheduled for a spring release via Columbia
Records. Vedder also sings four tracks on former Crowded House
frontman
Neil Finn's all-star live album ''7 Worlds Collide,'' scheduled for
release
on Feb. 26.

Anybody know if the re cd's have the U.K. 45 version of "Teacher"?
It's a completely different version and way cool. Thanks to Max Waller
for the 45 a couple years back. Love that version of a fave Tull tune.
I'm also a fan of early Tull. And maybe a U.K. or well-informed lister
could tell me what the hell Mum's jam sarnies are??? Maybe I'm
hearin' it wrong all these years. Sounds like some kinda' pastry

I took a girl to go see "Natural Born Killers" on our
first date way back when - it woulda been a great
choice if we'd been planning a nationwide killing
spree together, but aside from that...

Unless I'm mistaken, that's the only decent Eurovision song contest winner.

Back in late '84/early '85 I went on a first date with a girl who decided
that we were gonna start the "relationship" by going to see a movie called
The Mutilator. I wasn't into slasher flicks and... if memory serves, there
came a point in the movie where a guy's leg gets ripped off above the knee
and he's spewing gore out of his stump.

Oddly enough, upon looking it up, the movie is listed as being an '83
release. So why do I remember seeing it in a multiplex in late '84/early
'85? (And I *do* remember the time quite vividly.)
