So that's what happened with that thing ... I ordered it online the day
their catalog mentioning it arrived, and bought a few other things on their
own label at the same time. Monday ( the 28th ) the order arrived, and I got
the other 3 CDs I'd ordered, yet the Clear Light CD was listed on the order
as being " out of stock ", and it would arrive by Feb. 12th ... So I called
'em to find out how they could be out of stock on a new release that fast (
did they wholesale 'em all to Borders and Europe or what ??? ). They told me
it wasn't actually coming out til that day ( Monday, Jan. 28th ) and that
whenever something doesn't ship, their computer that prints the orders always
lists it as " out of stock "... I guess you can be " out of stock " on a
currently non - physically existant item ... anyway thanks fer sending them
the song Mike !!!

All y'all who have ordered this item directly from Collector's Choice Music,

things in their catalog which are "imminent".....and usually the delays are
not significant. But in this case, as it turns out, they did not have a
usable master for the bonus track, the B-side "She's Ready To Be Free."

Anyway...at their request, I sent them one today. So it is in fact
happening, and soon.......

What a sad thing to hear ... Andy Kulberg was an incredibly talented guy,
a great and interesting bass player. Like Rob says his playing on " I Can't
keep from Crying " and "Caress Me Baby " is exceptional, as is his playing on
" Mean Old Southern ", " Parchman - Farm ", and " Who Do You Love " amongst
others, and he could even do a nice turn on the flute as well "Flute Thing ".
The stuff he did with the Blues Project and afterwards with Seatrain are
things I still listen to regularly today.

Ditto at Yale, same years, where we got (from the same director as "Sweet

Even worse - I was reading an interview with some band, some time back. I
think it may have been No Doubt. Anyway, the lead singer freely admitted that
her boyfriend was a DJ and that she had a habit of hiding or trashing any
records in his stash that she found irritating. Hell, messing with personal

I used to lend a lot of my LPs to my then-girlfriend for her radio show some
ten or so years ago. When we broke up, I asked for them all back and I did
get a few back, but not all. Some were really rare, and I heard she later
sold them for big bucks. Up until a few years ago, I was still realizing I
was missing things when I'd go to look for something and then remembered
"Fuck, I lent it to her!" Damn! Or, I'd find the wrong LP in the wrong

Subject: Band Concepts

I think there was a thread a while back about
conceptualized bands people were coming up with. I was
thinking the other day of some of the modern bands who
have given themselves names based on other bands from
the '60s.

I was wondering if there has ever been a band called
the Acoustic Prunes, after the Electric Prunes. It
seems like such an obvious cop, that it has to have
been used by now. Of course, with the original Prunes
back together, playing Cavestomp and recording a new
album, perhaps they'd have something to say about it.

But I've come up with my own concept for the Acoustic
Prunes -- an album comprised of acoustic versions of
'60s garage/psych classics. Not bluegrass or country
versions, just songs played "unplugged." Imagine
something like the Chesterfield Kings doing the old
MTV show. In fact I've even got an idea for an album
title..."Unplug The Fuzz!"

I figure if the Space Negros can put out a whole album
of garage punk standards Muzak-style, acoustic
garage/psych arrangments don't seem like they'd be
impossible...

As you may know, the Kings actually did an acoustic version of "I Cannot
Find Her" on a 45. Similarly, The Original Sins did an acoustic 7" version
of "Can't Get Over You" that I really like.
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the C. Kings did some more
acoustic material, especially as they've long talked about doing a folk-rock
record. While Andy first mentioned this to me in '85 or '86 (at the same
time as he mentioned doing a surf vocal LP), he reaffirmed the group's
interest in the folk-rock project to me in an interview a few years ago.

Kopper is right on the money here, as usual. Saw the Dallas show last night and hung out w/these nicest of gents
till the wee hours and man, besides being SO NICE they're quite the fuzzed out, quite the good garage band.
Their originals had the essence of the old school coupled with an originality that is quite rare to hear these days and
their covers were beyond well done. They have the spirit of primitivity, but man, some of those guitar licks
smoked.....

If any Austinites still haven't made up their mind-
tonight's show w/The Hard Feelings should be one of the best pairings in awhile.

too tired for more, but Tomorrow's Caveman, well, great band. As Kopper says, "go see 'em"
