	Here goes for 2 February:

*Blodwyn Pig: Walk On The Water (Ahead Rings Out/A & M)

I didn't see any response to me asking about this band in my
first recent post -what's good by them -is it both lps?
track i heard was great -same old somng or something
-is this track a Move cover ? Walk On the Water?

-reminds me too - who did the vocal version of Ramsey lewis's
Wade in the Water? just remember it from mod clubs 20 years back
(especially the Bush at Shepherds bush which i chanced into
while looking for a London Branch of the Bank of Ireland over Xmas
obviously different decor etc (looks like it must have been made
into an 'Irish pub')-but the pub is still in the samne place)

-while i'm thinking about moddy stuff -does anybodyu know Eddie
Palmieri's live at Sing sing lp? I didn't ptake the chance to pick it up
over Xmas now I wonder if that was a dumb move?

*The Birds: Next In Line (Say Those Magic Words/Beat)
got the rare collectors guide cd over xmas -so finally have
leaving here -but was surprised at the amount of song duplication
was that everything by the band?
that late track did sound a tad barrel scrapy too
was lemmy one of their roadies ? i know he was in rockin vickers
around that time too
-funny that there was a Reverend Kilminster -who'd a thunk Lemmy
was a vicar's son?

*The Who: My Generation (My Generation/Decca)
finally getting a cd release -when's it due?

*The Five Americans: 7:30 Guided Tour (Western Union: Best
Of.../Sundazed)
do these do any more stuff like I saw the Light -I picked up the
Westrern Union lp 20odd years ago +found it way too poppy after having
heard light(or anyway)

*The Fairies: Anytime At All (V/A English Freakbeat, Vol. 6
CD/A.I.P.)
is there a connection between these and the pink fairies -i've
got a feeling that they shared members -but pink fairies had been used
as the title of a bike/drinking club in the interim

The only connection is that Twink was in both groups. The interim drinking
club was Twink, Steve Took, and Mick Farren.

The tape got here yesterday. Thanks! I have only listened to about half

some Ducks Deluxe, too. I liked the "Roxette" song.

I'll let you know what I think of the rest in a couple days.

    hey -
according to ugly things #13, there were a few tracks recorded by the
birds that weren't included in the 1999 set. i am guessing this is because
the masters have disappeared, anybody have any more concrete info on this???
anyway, the trax are as follows:

"that's all i need you for"
    "what hit me"
    "good times"
    "NSU" (the cream tune)
    "pretend"

hopefully this stuff will surface some day, that was a totally fucking
godlike band. anybody who hasn't scored this CD yet, buy this!!! this is a
concensus record, one of those rare things that everybody on the bomp list
can agree on - total crackling amphetamine-fueled mod r&b, just absolute
genius. it's tragic these guys never got to record an LP. total absolute 100%
all-wheat no-chaff fuckin GENIUS.

<<*The Who: My Generation (My Generation/Decca)
finally getting a cd release -when's it due?>>

i believe this will be out in a month or two - anybody else got the
details?? the sad thing is it's going to be in fucking STEREO. shel talmy and
MCA should be resoundingly bitch-slapped for this, the all-star recipient (so
far, anyway) of this year's "bonehead bad-idea reissue" award. what is that
all about?? STEREO?!? mean, i'll buy this (under protest, but hey, i'm a who
geek...better spend the cash on this than on the rent, right?), but i am
still scoutin for one of those mono boots with the air air force & great
shakes jungles. shel talmy mod record in stereo are the musical equivalent of
noir in COLOR. no fucking thanks!

That's weird, because just a few years ago it was
still all over classic rock radio....but then again,
we don't have The Buzzard anymore, we got that Radio

Q95 will play it, but I know they did in the past. I
will definitely agree, however, that it is a monster
of a song!

By the way, it came out in 1970. It charted in April
of that year and went to #21. Just for your info.....

hey kip, can you elaborate a little on the plans you saw at this hardware
store - are we talking CD shelves here? is this something that's commonly
available at any hardware store? if so, i would be really interested in
hearing the details about his, because i am in desperate need of some serious
shelving. i am becoming one of those people with "overstock" getting stacked
up on the floor. the CDs are taking over...

I thought "That's All I Need You For" was a hidden track on the CD? That was
the song they did in "The Deadly Bees" and the best thing I've heard by
them. (I have the Edsel mini-album and "Say Those Magic Words" on the
pebbles 2 box. Is there anything else I REALLY need?)

According to the notes on the Edsel album, they recorded two other songs for
the movie that weren't used.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that they didn't record all of "That's
All I Need You For," just the fragment used in the movie.

yeah, you're exactly right, "that's all i need you for" is included on
"collector's guide to rare british birds" as a bonus track, but only lifted
directly from the "killer bees" soundtrack - overlaid dialog and all. too
bad, too, it's a fantastic song. still though, it was cool of deram to throw
that on there.
yeah, i would still recommend scoring the "collector's guide" CD, for the
killer demos of "you're on my mind" and "you don't love me," along with a
couple of shit-hot takes of the who's "run run run." essential stuff!! and
it's just fantastically packaged, a really gorgeous LOOKING set, aside from
all of the great music included. to paraphrase my buddy brett, that set is a
brick fucking HOUSE.
wow, sorry to keep rhapsodizing, but the birds were a really, really good
band. i just love those guys, they were GREAT. ali mackenzie is a great,
kick-ass singer in the early-daltrey r&b shouter mode & pete mcdaniels is one
of my fave english drummers of that period....that guy was just incredible, a
crackling, explosive drummer kinda sorta like bobby bennett in the sonics, he
just beat the hell out of his drums, you just expect the guy's kit to
collapse into a pile of pearly splinters at any second. fantastic drummer.

No, they were small shelves for plates, knick-knacks and such. They were in
one of those handyman books. There were some bookshelf plans, but none of
them were large scale or heavy duty. I need something that'll hold 4000+
LP's.

We bought a CD shelf online. It holds 1000 CD's which seemed like enough
room at the time. Now I am piling the overflow on the floor in front of the
CD shelf. It does make it easier to weed out the dogs. When it's at the
bottom of the pile, if I can't remember the last time I listened to it,
can't imagine wanting to listening to it again anytime soon, and there is a
ring of dust around the case, it gets moved to the trade pile. And off to
Sunburst it goes.

If I can remember the name of the place we got the CD shelf from, I'll post
it. They have other sizes available, and it was reasonably priced. I'm not
Tim Allen, I'd rather buy a ready built unit than build one myself. That
isn't an option for the LP shelves.

Seeya,
Kip

There is atalent involved. It's marketing skill, not musical.

Sure hope Spears is investing wisely, cuz she'll be on "Where Are They Now?"
in a few years. If she doesn't watch her money, she may end up like
Tiffany, who is going to be appearing in Playboy next month. If you're
interested, here's a link:

It definitely was Dickman and Throbbin, starring John Holmes. It came out in
the mid to late 80's. Definitely not a gay porno, that ain't my bag. BTW, did
I read correctly that you went to Yale? Man, an Ivy man in Big Meat Hammer,
who would've guessed.?

I did watch a porn that had listed music by Badfinger. Imagine if it was THE
Badfinger? I wonder if there was any lawsuits over that one.

okay. the radio station I work at has 40,000+ LPs and
right now they're building new record shelves for all
of 'em. Each shelve is made out of 1" thick plywood
and measures about 4'x85"x12". You can either buy 1
foot wide plywood or buy a 4x8 foot sheet and rip it
to 13" wide strips (so that your LPs don't hang off
the edge. Shit, this is hard to explain. Anyways the
idea and design are really simple and they are fairly
sturdy - all you really have to do is strap them to
the wall with an "L" bracket and make sure you go into
a stud.
If you make the shelf to those dimensions you should
be able to fit 6 rows (13" high) of records on your
shelf, but I don't know how many records that'll hold.
What are you storing your records on right now?
