I was using the very same cord Id used to plug into the TV, so I doubt a faulty cord was the issue. But wait a sec, you said you plugged the Dvd player into the CD Burner via analog plugs? But these are digital inputs not analog (turntable). Does your CD burner have digitial inputs? It should and I would try using these since the input (your dvd player=digital wave). By using the analog inputs you would get that buzzing sound as well.
